Strachan pulls off race in 1973 vintage Corvette
Malcolm Strachan's Corvette C5 was sidelined in qualifying with an oil pump failure. "Buella," a 1973 vintage Corvette that Malcolm had never sat in before, was quickly rented and prepared for the race.
Since Malcolm would be in a different car for the race, he had to start at the back of the 40-car field. In very short order, he charged to the front of the field, setting a time of 1:29.4, which is faster than the car had ever gone before. With the Buella sputtering on low fuel, Strachan coasted to a second place, earning solid points in the four-race Puresports GT V8 Series.
